Note: A large type of urn with a wide lip used for funerary purposes in ancient Etruria, particularly during the 10th-8th centuries BCE. Early Villanovan burials were often characterized by the use of such urns; one handle would be knocked off in a ritual destruction of the vessel. Biconical urns often stood as a shorthand for the body of the deceased and were often capped by a military helmet.

Dutch ..... Groot type urnen met een brede lip, gebruikt voor begrafenisdoeleinden in het oude Etrurië, vooral in de 10de tot 8ste eeuw v. Chr. In de vroege Villanovatijd werden zulke urnen vaak gebruikt bij begrafenissen; één handvat werd dan afgeslagen tijdens de rituele vernietiging van de urn. Biconische urnen symboliseerden meestal het lichaam van de overledene en er zat vaak een militaire helm op.
