Note: Individual objects or works. Most works in museums are cataloged as items. A stand-alone architectural work should generally be cataloged as an item. An item may be composed of multiple parts or components, and it may be desirable to catalog the parts separately, linking the records for the components to the record for the whole. An item differs from a component in that the component cannot stand alone as an independent work.

| Dutch ..... Individuele objecten of werken. De meeste werken in musea worden als voorwerpen gecatalogiseerd. Ook een op zichzelf staand architectonisch werk moet doorgaans als item worden gecatalogiseerd. Een item kan bestaan uit verschillende delen of componenten, en het kan dan ook nuttig zijn om de onderdelen apart te catalogiseren en te verbinden met de vermelding van het item als geheel. Het verschil tussen een item en een component is dat een component niet op zichzelf kan staan als onafhankelijk werk. |
