Note: Axes of the middle bronze age, with L-shaped handles, and similar to palstave axes but with wider, cast-on flanges. As these flanges evolved they wrapped around the handle to hold it in place. Often these also exhibit cast-on loops to which thongs were tied to secure the blade. |
