Note: A registered trademark of Dow Chemical for a fumigant composed of sulfuryl fluoride (SO2F2 ). A colorless, odorless, toxic gas used for fumigation. Vikane is used to kill insects (ants, termites, silverfish, cockroaches, etc.) in homes and buildings. At high humidity and high temperature Vikane® can decompose to form hydrofluoric acid. Sulfuryl fluoride is gaseous at room temperature. It is applied from a compressed cylinder of liquid. The sprayed aerosol quickly becomes a gas and disperses throughout the sealed area. Vikane® is toxic to all life forms.

| Dutch ..... Een door Dow Chemical geregistreerd handelsmerk voor een ontsmettingsmiddel van sulfurylfluoride (SO2F2). Vikane is een kleurloos, geurloos, giftig gas waarmee insecten (mieren, termieten, zilvervisjes, kakkerlakken etc.) in huizen en gebouwen verdelgd worden. Bij hoge temperatuur en luchtvochtigheid kan het uiteenvallen en fluorwaterstofzuur vormen. Bij kamertemperatuur is sulfurylfluoride een gas, maar het wordt aangebracht vanuit een tank, waarin het tot een vloeistof is samengeperst. Het zo gesproeide aerosol verandert snel terug in een gas en verspreidt zich door het afgesloten gebied. Vikane is giftig voor alle levensvormen. |
