Note: Ancient Italic language spoken in central Italy by the ancient Umbrians, particularly in the area of the Tiber River valley; it was displaced by Latin at an unknown date. It is closely related to Oscan and Volscian and more distantly related to Latin and Faliscan. Modern knowledge of the language is derived primarily from the Iguvine Tables, a set of bronze tablets discovered near Gubbio (ancient Iguvium) in 1444.

| Dutch ..... Italische taal die in het oude Centraal-Italië, vooral in het gebied van de Tibervallei, werd gesproken door de Umbriërs, en op een onbekende datum werd verdrongen door het Latijn. Het Umbrisch is nauw verwant aan het Oskisch en Volskisch, en meer ver verwant aan het Latijn en Faliskisch. De hedendaagse kennis over deze taal is voornamelijk afgeleid uit de Tabulae Iguvinae, een collectie bronzen platen die in 1444 nabij Gubbio (het oude Iguvium) werden ontdekt. |
