Note: Special cloths placed over a Christian altar. Chrismales altar cloths are impregnated with wax to make them impermeable. They are placed directly on the brick or stone, under the other altar cloths, for the purpose of preventing chrism or other oils used in the consecration of the altar from seeping into the other, upper altar cloths.

| Dutch ..... Speciale doeken die over een christelijk altaar worden gelegd. Altaardoeken zijn geïmpregneerd met was, zodat ze ondoorlatend worden. Ze worden direct op de steen gelegd, onder de andere altaardoeken, om te voorkomen dat chrisma of andere oliën die bij de consecratie van het altaar worden gebruikt, doorsijpelen naar de hoger gelegen altaardoeken. |
