Note: Microfadeometry is a recently developed technique that measures color changes and evaluates light stability in individual objects of art that are sensitive to light exposure. A microfade tester (MFT) uses a powerful xenon arc lamp and filters to focus a beam of very intense light through a fiber optic onto a tiny spot on the surface of the artwork. A second fiber optic collects the reflected light and delivers it to a miniature spectrometer. As the lamp fades the surface of the artwork, the resulting color change is monitored by the spectrometer.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Een recentelijk ontwikkelde techniek waarmee veranderingen van kleur gemeten worden en de lichtstabiliteit bij individuele lichtsensitieve kunstwerken geĆ«valueerd wordt. De microfade tester (MFT) gebruikt een krachtige xenonlamp en filters om een straal van zeer intens licht door een optische vezel te richten op een klein punt op het oppervlak van het kunstwerk. Een tweede glasvezel verzamelt het gereflecteerde licht en stuurt het naar een miniatuurspectrometer. Deze legt de kleurverandering vast die plaatsvindt als het licht over het oppervlak verplaatst wordt.
