Note: Oxygen in its atomic form as it exists at altitudes over 12 miles above Earth's surface. It is the result of photo dissociation of molecular oxygen enabled by the ultraviolet radiation found in space. Atomic oxygen comprises 96% of low Earth orbit atmosphere. In conservation, an atmospheric atomic oxygen beam is effective in removing through oxidation organic materials that are typical of graffiti or other contaminant defacements which may occur to the surfaces of paintings. |

Dutch ..... Zuurstof in atoomvorm, zoals dat bestaat op meer dan 19 km boven het aardoppervlak. Deze zuurstof ontstaat door de fotodissociatie van moleculaire zuurstof, een proces dat wordt veroorzaakt door ultravioletstraling uit de ruimte. 96% van de atmosfeer binnen de lage baan om de aarde bestaat uit atoomzuurstof. In de conserveringswetenschap wordt atmosferische atoomzuurstof in straalvorm effectief toegepast in het door oxidatie verwijderen van organische materialen die zich op schilderijen kunnen bevinden, zoals graffiti of andere beschadigende vervuilingsstoffen. |
