Note: Radioactive chemical element having symbol Rn and atomic number 86. It is a colorless, odorless, tasteless inert gas. Radon is formed during the natural decay of radium. It is produced in rock and soil and migrates to the surface, sometimes entering buildings through basement walls, resulting in low level exposure. Radon’s health risk is associated with the products of radon decay and not with the gas itself. |

Dutch ..... Radioactief chemisch element met symbool Rn en atoomnummer 86. Het is een kleurloos, geurloos en smaakloos edelgas. Radon wordt gevormd bij het natuurlijk verval van radium. Het ontstaat in rots en bodem en verplaatst zich naar het oppervlak. Soms dringt het gebouwen binnen door keldermuren, wat leidt tot een lage blootstelling aan radioactiviteit. Het gezondheidsrisico van radon komt uit de vervalproducten van radon, niet uit het gas zelf. |
