Note: Variety of Maori pounamu stone that is clear like glass, and ranges in color from olive-green to bluish-green. It is the stone used earliest as pounamu. The composition is typically bowenite rather than nephrite. Most tangiwai is comes from two isolated areas at Piopiotahi (Milford Sound).

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Pounamu-steensoort (een woord uit het Maori) die zo helder is als glas en qua kleur varieert van olijf- tot blauwgroen. Dit was de eerste steensoort die als pounamu werd gebruikt, en het bestaat doorgaans uit boweniet in plaats van nefriet. Het meeste tangiwai wordt gedolven in twee afgelegen gebieden rond Piopiotahi (Milford Sound).
