Note: Fiber product used by Maori in weaving. It is prepared by scrapping, pounding and washing New Zealand flax, which are plants of the Phormium genus, not true flax. Muka is a key material in Maori traditional textiles where it is usually used in tāniko or twined weaving.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Vezelproduct dat door Maori's wordt gebruikt bij het weven. Het wordt gemaakt door Nieuw-Zeelands vlas te schrapen, bekloppen en wassen. Het betreft planten van het genus Phormium, niet echt vlas. Muka is een belangrijk materiaal in traditioneel Maori-textiel. Het wordt vaak gebruikt bij tāniko of 'getwijnd' weven.
