Note: Species of shrub native to the arid regions of Iran, Asia Minor, and Greece. An exudate from this plant is produced spontaneously on the bark of the shrub, but the yield may be increased by making an incision and driving wooden wedges into it. This gum is one of the oldest drugs known.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Soort struik die inheems is in droge gebieden in Iran, Klein-AziĆ« en Griekenland. De afscheiding van deze plant ontstaat spontaan op de schors van de struik, maar de hoeveelheid kan worden verhoogd door er een snee in te maken en er houten wiggen in aan te brengen. Deze gom is een van de oudste bekende medicijnen.
