Note: Refers to distinctive painted wall panels, generally those from 15th- and 16th-century Italy. They were typically installed in a frieze above the wooden cornice molding, forming a separate register between the wooden paneling and the bare wall just below the ceiling. Today, they have often been removed from their original location, and are recognized by their long, narrow proportions. They are distinguished from "spalliere (paintings)," which were installed lower on the wall, just above chests or benches. Since the original context of the setting is lost once the panel has been removed from the wall, the term "spalliere" may be applied to both.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 普遍指十五至十六世紀時風行於義大利地區繪於壁板上的獨特作品。通常鑲嵌於橫飾帶上方的木製簷口裝飾板條處，形成天花板下方牆面與木板板面間分離的通風處。現在這些簷口裝飾通常都巳被搬離原處，因而僅能由其長且窄的形狀比例辨認出來。與另一種藝術作品「彩繪壁掛（油畫）」不同，「彩繪壁掛」通常放在較低的牆面上，即五斗櫃或長凳上方。一但簷口裝飾的面板被移走，也就失去其原有的樣貌，故亦可以「彩繪壁掛」稱之。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar bepaalde geschilderde muurpanelen, meestal uit het Italië van de 15de en 16de eeuw. Ze werden meestal in een fries boven de houten kroonlijstlatten aangebracht, waardoor ze een apart register vormden tussen de houten lambrisering en de kale muur direct onder het plafond. Tegenwoordig zijn ze vaak verwijderd van hun oorspronkelijke locatie en worden ze gekenmerkt door hun lange, smalle proporties. Te onderscheiden van 'spalliere (schilderingen)', die lager op de muur werden aangebracht, net boven kisten of banken. Omdat de oorspronkelijke context niet meer duidelijk is nadat het paneel is verwijderd, wordt de term 'spalliere' vaak voor beide vormen gebruikt. |
| Portuguese ..... Refere-se aos distintos painéis de parede pintados, geralmente aqueles da Itália dos séculos XV e XVI. Eles eram, geralmente, instalados em um friso acima da moldura de cornija de madeira, formando um registro separado entre o painel de madeira e a parede descoberta logo abaixo do teto. Hoje, eles têm sido frequentemente removidos de seus locais de origem e são reconhecidos por suas proporções longas e estreitas. Eles são distintos de "spalliere (pinturas)", que eram instaladas em uma altura mais baixa da parede, logo acima de baús e bancos. Desde que seu ambiente de contexto original é perdido, uma vez que o painel tem sido removido da parede, o termo "spalliere" pode ser aplicado para ambos. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere a paneles específicos de muros pintados, generalmente aquellos de los siglos XV y XVI en Italia. Estos eran instalados en un friso sobre los moldes de madera de la cornisa, formando un registro separado entre los paneles de madera y la pared desnuda inmediatamente bajo el cielo raso. Actualmente éstos han sido frecuentemente removidos de su ubicación original y son reconocidos por sus grandes y angostas proporciones. Se diferencia de "casetón de madera", ya que se instalaban a un nivel más abajo del muro, inmediatamente sobre los cajones o bancos. Si desde el contexto original de la ubicación se ha perdido uno de los paneles luego de haberse removido del muro, el término "casetón de madera" puede ser empleado para ambos.
