Note: Used by modern scholars to refer to ancient Greek large, round-bottomed bowls that curve into a wide, open mouth, and that often stood on a stand. Metal vessels of this shape were probably used for cooking and those made of terracotta were used for mixing wine and date from the mid-seventh through the late fifth centuries BCE. They are distinguished from "lebetes" by their larger size. Some scholars hold that ancient literary evidence suggests that the term was originally applied to drinking cups rather than bowls, and that such bowls were at that time called "lebetes."

Metalen schalen met deze vorm werden waarschijnlijk gebruikt om in te koken, terwijl de schalen van terracotta werden gebruikt om wijn in te mengen. Dinoi dateren uit de periode van het midden van de 7de eeuw tot eind 5de eeuw v.Chr. en onderscheiden zich van ‘lebetes’ door hun grotere afmetingen. Oude geschreven bronnen suggereren dat de term oorspronkelijk niet werd gebruikt voor schalen maar voor drinkkommen, en dat dergelijke schalen in die tijd ‘lebetes’ werden genoemd.

Im Unterschied zu einem Lebes ist es größer. Einige Wissenschaftler meinen, dass antike literarische Belege nahelegen, dass der Begriff ursprünglich eher auf einen Trinkbecher als auf eine Schale angewandt wurde und dass eine solche Schale zu dieser Zeit "Lebes" genannt wurde. 
Spanish ..... Usadas por eruditos modernos para referirse a grandes bols de base redonda que se curvan en una boca ancha abierta, y que a menudo estaban sobre un soporte. Vasijas metálicas de este tamaño se usaron probablemente para cocinar y aquellas de terracota se usaron para mezclar vino y datan de mediados del siglo VII hasta las postrimerías del siglo V A.C. Se diferencia de "lebetes" por su mayor tamaño. Hay evidencia en la literatura antigua que el término originariamente se usó para referirse a tazas de beber más que a bols y que a esos bols se les llamó entonces "lebes".
