For those who undertake primary responsibility for causes or projects, either as individuals or in groups, use "sponsors." For those who support causes as individuals or in groups but not necessarily taking primary responsibility for them, use "patrons." Do not use for the common meaning of "friends," that is, not for persons joined to one another in mutual benevolence and intimacy.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 透過參與志願性協會的成員身分，經由捐贈金錢、志工服務或公開性表達支持以支持如博物館，圖書館與慈善組織的願景與機構的人。對於承擔理想或計畫的主要責任之個人或團體，則稱為「資助人」。支持理想或計劃，但不須負承擔主要責任的個人或團體，則稱為「贊助人」。切勿用於廣義的「朋友」， 這並不是指因互有善意與親密而與他人結交的人。 |

Personen die, als lid van een vereniging of genootschap, steun geven aan instellingen zoals musea, bibliotheken en liefdadigheidsinstellingen in de vorm van geldelijke bijdragen, vrijwilligerswerk of publieke steunbetuigingen. Gebruik 'sponsors' voor hen die, als individuen of als groep, de hoofdverantwoordelijkheid voor doelen of projecten op zich nemen. Gebruik 'begunstigers' voor personen die als individuen of als groep doelen steunen maar er niet per se verantwoordelijk voor zijn. Gebruik de term niet in de algemene betekenis van 'vrienden', dus niet voor personen die een band van wederzijdse welwillendheid en intimiteit met elkaar hebben. |
