Note: Generally refers to various types of main garments for the upper body, made with or without sleeves and worn over or tucked in the waistband of a skirt, trousers, or the like. Usually having a collar, which may be detachable, often a front opening, and sometimes pockets. Specifically often refers to an article of male attire with long sleeves terminating in wristbands or cuffs. It originally referred to undergarments for the upper part of the body, made of linen, calico, flannel, silk, or other washable material; originally always worn next to the skin.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Bovenkleding voor het bovenlichaam, met of zonder mouwen en gedragen in of over de tailleband van een rok of broek. Meestal met een kraag, die soms afneembaar is, een sluiting van voren en soms zakken op de borst. 
German ..... Der Begriff bezieht sich generell auf verschiedene Arten von Hauptkleidungsstücken für den Oberkörper, mit oder ohne Ärmel; kann über einem Rock, einer Hose oder ähnlichem getragen werden oder in den Bund eines Rockes, einer Hose oder ähnlichem gesteckt werden. In der Regel besitzt es einen Kragen, der abnehmbar sein kann, oft vorne offen und manchmal auch mit Taschen. Insbesondere bezieht es sich oft auf einen Artikel der männlichen Kleidung mit langen Ärmeln, die in Manschetten oder Ärmelaufschlägen enden. Der Begriff bezog sich ursprünglich auf die Unterwäsche für den oberen Teil des Körpers aus Leinen, Kattun, Flanell, Seide oder anderen waschbaren Materialen; ursprünglich immer direkt auf der Haut getragen. 
Spanish ..... Término que se utiliza ampliamente en referencia a varios tipos de prendas principales para la parte superior del cuerpo, con o sin mangas y que se llevan sobre o remetidas bajo el cinturón de una falda, pantalones o semejante. Generalmente, tienen un cuello, que puede ser desmontable; suelen ser abiertas por la parte delantera y a veces tienen bolsillos.
