Note: Intaglio process in which the design is worked into an acid-resistant substance coating the metal printing plate; the plate is then exposed to acid, which etches the plate where the metal is exposed, to create lines and dark areas. For the single step of exposing the plate to acid, use "biting."

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種凹版印刷術，圖樣凹刻在金屬印版的抗酸物質塗層，接著將印版暴露於酸中，而暴露出來的金屬部位及受到蝕刻，用以製作出線條和深色區域。若單指將印版暴露於酸中的步驟，則用「酸腐蝕」(biting)一詞。 |
| Dutch ..... Wordt gebruikt voor de diepdruktechniek waarbij een ontwerp wordt gemaakt met een zuurbestendige stof die de metalen drukplaat beschermt. De plaat wordt blootgesteld aan zuur, dat in de plaat inbijt, zodat de delen van de metalen plaat die aan het zuur blootstaan, worden geëtst.. Gebruik 'bijten' voor het inwerken zelf (van zuren op een drukplaat ten gevolge van blootstelling). |

Úsese para el proceso de la talla en el cual el diseño se trabaja en una sustancia de prueba de ácido que cubre la placa de impresión del metal; la placa se expone al ácido, que grabó al aguafuerte la placa donde se expone el metal. Para el solo paso de exponer la placa al ácido, utilizar "morder.” |
