Note: Refers to the school of Buddhism said to have been founded by the Chinese monk Hui Yuan (334-417) which became one of the most popular forms of Mahayana. Pure Land Buddhism advocates devotion to the bodhisattva Amitabha, who rules over a 'pure land.' Devotion to Amitabha can ideally lead to rebirth and enlightenment in this pure land. Pure Land Buddhism spread to Japan where it broke away from the main school and goes by the name Jōdo.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 據說是由中國僧人慧遠(334-417)創立的佛教宗派，後成為大乘佛教最受歡迎的宗派之一。淨土宗信奉管理「淨土」的阿彌陀佛。希望藉由對阿彌陀佛虔誠的奉獻，得以在淨土重生與開悟。淨土宗傳到日本後，便從主要宗派分裂，以日本淨土宗(Jōdo)為名。 |

Tsjing T'ue staat in het teken van toewijding aan de bodhisattva Amitabha, die heerst over een 'zuiver land'. De toewijding aan Amitabha kan in het ideale geval leiden tot een wedergeboorte en verlichting in dit zuivere land. Tsjing T'ue heeft zich verspreid naar Japan, alwaar een afsplitsing ontstond van de hoofdrichting, onder de naam Jōdo. |
