Note: A striking breccia quarried in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Maryland and Virginia; it consists mostly of limestone, quartz pebbles, and multicolored fragments ranging from sand grains to cobbles, all cemented together in a calcareous matrix. It can be extremely difficult to work as the hard pebbles tend to break away from the softer matrix.

| Dutch ..... Een opvallend breccië dat wordt gewonnen in de Blue Ridge Mountains in Maryland en Virginia. Het bestaat voor het grootste gedeelte uit kalksteen, kwartskiezels en meerkleurige fragmenten, van zandkorrels tot keien. Dit alles wordt samengevoegd in een kalkhoudende matrix. Het is soms erg moeilijk te bewerken, omdat de harde kiezelstenen snel losraken van de zachtere matrix. |
| Spanish ..... Breccia muy espectacular extraída de canteras de las montañas Blue Ridge Mountains en Maryland y Virginia; está formada principalmente de caliza, guijarros de cuarzo y fragmentos multicolores desde granos de arena hasta cantos guijarros, todos cementados por una matriz calcárea. Puede ser extremadamente difícil de trabajar porque los guijarros, más duros, tienden a desprenderse de la matriz, más blanda.
