Note: Wind catchers consisting of a tall tower, generally square in plan with X-shaped panels set diagonally across the interior from corner to corner, open at the sides near the top to funnel and accelerate incoming breezes down one channel to cool spaces below creating by convection an updraft in the opposite channel which draws warm indoor air out; Persian in origin, found in Iran and the Gulf countries.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Windvangers bestaande uit een hoge toren, meestal vierkant in opzet met in de binnenruimte X-vormige panelen diagonaal van hoek naar hoek; nabij de top zijn de zijkanten open, waardoor ze als trechter fungeren en binnenkomende wind sneller een schacht in leiden om lager gelegen ruimten te koelen, waarbij door convectie in de tegenoverliggende schacht een stroming ontstaat die warme lucht uit de vertrekken naar buiten zuigt. Van oorsprong Perzisch; wordt aangetroffen in Iran en de Golfstaten. 
German ..... Windfang, der aus einem hohen Turm besteht, welcher im Grundriss üblicherweise quadratisch mit X-förmigen Platten errichtet wurde, die das Innere diagonal von Ecke zu Ecke durchschneiden. Die Seiten sind oben geöffnet, so dass hereinkommende Luft durch einen Kanal beschleunigt nach unten strömen kann, um die unteren Bereiche zu kühlen, wobei durch Konvektion im gegenüber liegenden Schacht eine Aufströmung erzeugt wird, die warme Luft aus dem Inneren herausbefördert. Ursprünglich persisch, ist er im Iran und den Golfstaaten zu finden.
