Note: Water-based, matte paint made with pigment in a casein binder, which is a phosphoprotein of milk. Dry casein is hydrolyzed with alkalis (lime, borax, ammonia, or others) to form a clear viscous solution. Casein paints dry to a matte, brittle film that is insoluble in water and impervious to most paint strippers.

| Dutch ..... Matte verf op waterbasis, gemaakt met pigment in een caseïnebinder: een fosfoproteïne van melk. Wanneer droge caseïne wordt gehydrolyseerd met alkali's (kalk, borax, ammonia of andere), ontstaat er een heldere viskeuze oplossing. Caseïneverf droogt op als een matte, brosse laag die niet oplosbaar is in water en bestand is tegen de meeste afbijtmiddelen. |
