Note: Horizontal slats, blades, or baffles arranged to be sloping and overlapping, fixed or adjustable. In construction, louvers are used to exclude rain or snow, to admit air or light in varying degrees, to shield a light source from view at certain angles, or to absorb unwanted light. Examples include as used in doors, windows, lighting devices, and the intakes and exhausts of mechanical ventilation systems. For shutters having louvers, use "louvered shutters." For blinds having slats or baffles, use "blinds (coverings)."

Gemaakt om regen en sneeuw te weren, om lucht en licht in verscheidene mate binnen te laten, om een lichtbron vanuit bepaalde hoeken af te schermen, of om ongewenst licht te absorberen. Worden gebruikt bij deuren, ramen, verlichtingsapparaten en de in- en uitlaten van mechanische ventilatiesystemen. Voor gelijksoortige, maar beweegbare en afneembare, instrumenten die bestaan uit latten of baffles als bedekking voor openingen om zicht of licht te verhinderen of te reguleren, gebruik 'jaloezieën (bedekkingen)'. |
