Note: A clear liquor distilled from malted grain mash and flavored with juniper berries. This term is used to designate the spirit manufactured in the Netherlands and Belgium as distinct from the British and American versions of this, called 'gin.' Only liquors produced in the countries of Belgium, the Netherlands, and some districts in France and Germany may carry the name 'jenever', 'genièvre' or 'genever.' |
