Note: Plaques designed to be worn on a belt or as part of belt assemblage; may be decorative and functional. Examples are found in many cultures, including Chinese cultures and Precolumbian cultures, such as used for Maya rulers. Usage sometimes overlaps with "belt plates," although items made of stone are typically called "belt plaques"; for items dated to the 18th-century and later, usually metal, worn on belts to signify military rank or affiliation, always use "belt plates."

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Platen voor op een riem of als onderdeel van een riem; ze kunnen decoratief en functioneel zijn. Voorbeelden zijn gevonden bij veel culturen, onder andere Chinese culturen en precolumbiaanse culturen, zoals de platen die door Maya-heersers werden gebruikt. Het gebruik overlapt soms met 'riemplaatjes', maar voorwerpen van steen worden meestal 'riemplaten' genoemd. Gebruik 'riemplaatjes' voor voorwerpen uit de 18de eeuw en later, meestal van metaal, die op een riem worden gedragen om een militaire rang of connectie aan te duiden.
