Note: The measure of unsaturated fatty acid in a fat, oil, or wax obtained by counting the number of grams of iodine absorbed by 100 grams of the material. The more saturated the substance, the smaller the iodine number will be. Relatively unsaturated oils, waxes, fats will have a higher iodine value.

| Dutch ..... De hoeveelheid onverzadigd vetzuur in een vet, olie of was, berekend door het aantal gram jodium te tellen dat door 100 gram van het materiaal geabsorbeerd wordt. Hoe meer verzadigd de substantie is, hoe lager het joodadditiegetal zal zijn. Relatief onverzadigde oliën, wassen en vetten zullen een hogere jodiumwaarde hebben. |
