Note: Technique for making copies of images or documents using a device called a polygraph. An early polygraph consists of a blunt stylus and a pen or brush connected by frames and springs that allow the user to trace over the original with the stylus while the pen or brush moves in parallel, copying what is traced onto a sheet of paper or other surface. The term can also be used to describe a technique for simultaneously producing two or more identical writings or drawings. Polygraphy also refers to a method of producing copies of paintings, invented by Joseph Booth, ca. 1788. Polygraphy can furthermore more generally refer to the art or practice of using any copying machine.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 是指以一種名為複寫器的裝置進行圖像或是文件複製的技術。早期的複寫器包含了由框架及彈簧所連接的一根鈍的針筆、以及一支筆或是刷子，讓使用者在筆或是刷子平行移動時，同時以針筆將原圖轉繪至一張紙或是其他表面上。此詞彙亦可用來描述同時製作出兩個以上完全一致的文件或是圖畫的技術。也指由約瑟夫‧布斯（Joseph Booth）於西元1788年前後所發明的繪畫複製品製作方法。並可進一步地廣泛指稱使用任何複製機器的藝術或實作。

| Dutch ..... Techniek voor het maken van kopieën van afbeeldingen of documenten met behulp van een zogeheten polygraaf. Een ouderwetse polygraaf bestaat uit een stompe naald en een pen of penseel die met elkaar zijn verbonden door raamwerken en veren, waardoor de gebruiker het origineel met de naald kan overtrekken terwijl de pen of penseel het overgetrokkene op een vel papier of ander materiaal overzet. De term kan ook worden gebruikt voor een techniek om twee of meer identieke teksten of tekeningen te maken. Polygrafie verwijst ook naar een methode voor kopiëren van schilderijen, uitgevonden door Joseph Booth, ca. 1788. Verder kan polygrafie meer in het algemeen verwijzen naar de kunst of praktijk van het gebruiken van elke machine die kopieën maakt. |
| Spanish ..... La técnica para hacer copias de las imágenes o los documentos que usaban un dispositivo llamado polígrafo. Un polígrafo consiste en una aguja y una pluma o un cepillo conectado por los marcos. Los resortes permiten que el usuario remonte sobre el original con la aguja mientras que la pluma o el cepillo se mueve en paralelo, copiando sobre una hoja del papel o de otra superficie. El término se puede también utilizar para describir una técnica para producir escrituras o dibujos. Polígrafo también se refiere a un método de producir las copias de pinturas, inventadas por José Booth, en 1788. |
