Note: Mandolins developed in Italy in the mid-18th century, with a pear-shaped body made of narrow ribs and very deeply vaulted at the lower end, with fretted neck, open circular or oblong sound hole, four pairs of steel strings, a flat rectangular peg disc set at an obtuse angle, rear pegs, and a low bridge glued to the belly. |

German ..... Mandoline, in Italien in der Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts entwickelt, mit einem birnenförmigen Korpus aus schmalen Spänen, am unteren Ende sehr tief gewölbt, mit bundiertem Hals, offenem runden oder länglichen Schallloch, vier Paaren von Stahlsaiten, einer flachen, rechteckigen, in stumpfem Winkel nach hinten abgeknickten Wirbelplatte, hinterständigen Stimmwirbeln und einem niedrigen Steg, der am Korpus angeleimt ist. |

Mandolinas desarrolladas en Italia a mediados del siglo XVIII, con un cuerpo en forma de pera hecho de costillas angostas y abombado muy profundamente en el extremo inferior, un mástil con trastes, una abertura de sonido circular u oblonga, cuatro pares de cuerdas de metal, un clavijero de disco plano y rectangular ubicado en un ángulo obtuso, clavijas traseras, y un puente bajo pegado al vientre. |
