Note: Term applied to various types of drinking vessels, usually made of wood, pewter or silver, the contents of which were drunk for wagers. Especially those in the form of a standing woman wearing a full skirt and having upraised arms which hold the side handles of a small swinging cup. When the piece was inverted, both the skirt and swinging cup could be filled with wine. The drinker was expected to empty the contents of both without spilling any wine. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 用指各種不同型式之飲器,通常為木頭、白鑞或銀製,內盛賭注飲品。尤指形為穿著蓬裙的站立女子,雙手向上,捧住一只小搖搖杯的兩側把手。杯子反轉時,裙子與搖搖杯均可盛酒。飲者應將酒一滴不漏地飲盡。 |
Dutch ..... Term gebruikt voor verschillende soorten drinkgerei, meestal gemaakt van hout, tin of zilver, waarvan de inhoud voor een inzet werd geledigd. Vooral in de vorm van een staande vrouw in een lange rok met opgeheven armen die de handvaten aan de zijkant van een schommelend kopje vasthouden. Als het stuk werd omgekeerd werden zowel de rok als het kopje gevuld met wijn. De drinker moest de inhoud van beide ledigen zonder wijn te knoeien. |
German ..... Bezeichnung, die auf verschiedene Arten von Trinkgefäßen angewandt wird, gewöhnlich aus Holz, Zinn oder Silber gefertigt, deren Inhalt anläßlich von Wetten getrunken wurde. Insbesondere solche in Gestalt einer stehenden Frau, die ein langes Kleid trägt und ihre Arme hochreckt, welche die Seitengriffe eines kleinen schaukelnden Bechers halten, der mit Wein gefüllt werden konnte. Vom Trinkenden wurde erwartet, den Inhalt beider Becher zu leeren, ohne Wein zu vergießen. |
Spanish ..... Término que se aplica a varios tipos de vasijas para beber, generalmente de madera, peltre o plata, cuyos contenidos se bebían por apuestas. Especialmente aquellas con la forma de una mujer de pie vestida con una falda amplia, sosteniendo con los brazos alzados las asas laterales de una pequeña copa que se balancea. Cuando la vasija de invertía, tanto la falda como la copa podían llenarse con vino. Se esperaba que el bebedor pudiera beber el contenido de ambas sin derramar nada de vino. |
