Note: Small ancient Greek flasklike vessels with a circular body, wider than high, with a convex top and an arched handle extending from one side across the top to a spout on the other side; used for pouring perfumed oil. Askoi were often grave offerings and sometimes shaped like birds. |

Dutch ..... Kleine Oudgriekse flesvormige vaten met een ronde romp, meer breed dan hoog, met een bolle bovenkant en een boogvormig handvat, dat van de ene kant over de bovenkant naar een tuit aan de andere kant loopt; werd gebruikt om geparfumeerde olie uit te schenken. Askoi werden vaak meegegeven als grafgift. Ze hebben soms de vorm van een vogel. |
German ..... Kleines antikes griechisches flaschenähnliches Gefäß mit rundem Körper, breiter als hoch, mit einem konvexen Oberteil und bogenförmigen Griff, der sich von einer Seite über das Oberteil zu einem Ausguss auf der anderen Seite ausdehnt, genutzt um parfümiertes Öl auszugießen. Askoi waren oft Grabspenden und manchmal wie Vögel geformt. |
Spanish ..... Antiguas y pequeñas vasijas griegas en forma de redoma con un cuerpo circular, más anchas que altas, con la parte de arriba convexa y un asa arqueada que se extiende desde un lado a través del extremo superior hasta el pico en el otro lado, usadas para verter aceite. |
