Note: Large lutelike instruments, popular in Europe from about 1590 to 1655, with six double courses of stopped strings over the fingerboard and eight unstopped bass strings, about twice the length of the stopped strings, to accomodate which the neck is greatly extended beyond the pegbox of the stopped strings. Its primary use was to accompany the solo singing voice.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 指類似魯特琴的大型樂器，西元1590年至1655年流行於歐洲，指板上為六對雙按指弦，另具八條開放低音弦，開放低音弦的長度為按指弦的兩倍，以符合長度遠超過按指弦弦軸箱的琴頸。長頸魯特琴主要用於獨唱伴奏。 |
| Dutch ..... Grote luitachtige instrumenten die van rond 1590 tot 1655 zeer geliefd waren in Europa. Ze hebben zes dubbele verkorte snarenkoren die boven de toets lopen en acht vrijzwevende bassnaren die niet worden verkort en ongeveer twee keer zo lang zijn als de gewone snaren. Hiervoor is de hals een eind verlengd voorbij de sleutelkast van de verkorte snaren. Ze worden vooral gebruikt om de solozangstem te begeleiden. |

Großes lautenähnliches Chordofon, in Europa von etwa 1590 bis 1655 populär, mit sechs doppelchörigen Griffsaiten über dem Griffbrett und acht nicht abgreifbaren Basssaiten, etwa doppelt so lang wie die Spielsaiten; für diese langen Basssaiten ist ein zweiter Hals mit einem eigenen Wirbelkasten angebracht, der weit über den Wirbelkasten der Griffsaiten hinausragt. Der primäre Zweck der Basssaiten war die Begleitung der Solo-Gesangsstimme. |
| Spanish ..... Instrumentos de gran tamaño tipo laúd, populares en Europa desde alrededor de 1590 hasta 1655, con seis órdenes dobles de cuerdas pisadas sobre el diapasón y ocho cuerdas graves abiertas, de casi el doble del largo de las cuerdas pisadas; el mástil se extendía bastante más allá del clavijero de las cuerdas pisadas a fin de acomodar a estas últimas. Su uso principal fue para acompañar a un cantante solista. |
