| Dutch ..... Familie die bestaat uit ongeveer 6000 soorten van meestal kleurige en meestal middelgrote tot grote vlinders. De soorten zijn verspreid over het grootste deel van de wereld. De meeste soorten hebben een klein paar voorpoten en staan op slechts vier poten. Bij sommige soorten zijn de voorpoten bedekt met borstelachtig haar.
