Note: Vehicles with two wheels in tandem propelled by the rider straddling a frame mounting wheels seat and steering handle bars. These are the basic elements of most bicycles with the exception of those that have eliminated or dropped the top horizontal bar to accommodate women's skirts. Historically some bicycles with identical structure have been marketed as either "men's bicycles" or "women's bicycles" as fashions changed. |

Dutch ..... Transportmiddelen met twee wielen achter elkaar, waarvan het achterste wordt aangedreven door de bestuurder die in spreidstand op een frame zit, waaraan een zadel en een stuur met handvatten zijn gemonteerd. Dit zijn de basiselementen van de meeste fietsen, met dien verstande dat bij sommige fietsen de horizontale stang aan de bovenkant ontbreekt ten behoeve van bestuurders met een rok. Vroeger zijn sommige fietsen met een identieke constructie op de markt gebracht als 'herenfietsen' of 'damesfietsen', onder invloed van een veranderende mode. |
