Note: Fine Roman pottery that is a type of Terra sigillata pottery produced primarily during the Augustine period. Strictly speaking, the term applies only to such pottery produced in Arezzo, Italy, however, it is also used to refer to other Roman pottery found in Italy that imitates the style of Arezzo. It is characterized by a relatively early date, a fine quality, and distinctive patterns and figural compositions, imitating silverware, that were either punched individually with designs or cast from molds.

Dutch ..... Fijn Romeins pottenbakkersgoed; een vorm van terra sigillata die voornamelijk tijdens de Augustaanse periode werd vervaardigd. Strikt genomen verwijst de term alleen naar dergelijk aardewerk dat in Arezzo, in ItaliĆ«, gemaakt werd, maar doorgaans wordt de term ook gebruikt om te verwijzen naar ander Romeins aardewerk dat elders in ItaliĆ« in navolging van de stijl van Arezzo geproduceerd werd. Deze goederen worden gekenmerkt door een relatief vroege productiedatum, een fijn karakter, en opvallende patronen en figuurlijke composities in imitatie van zilverwerk, die individueel op het aardewerk gedrukt of uit een mal gegoten werden.
