Note: Receptacles used in religious contexts that are considered in essence the dwelling-place of the deity, intended literally or symbolically. In Christian contexts, tabernacles often have an architectural character and are located near the high altar of a church, set into the wall or free-standing; their purpose is to hold the consecrated Host. The term is derived from Latin, meaning a small dwelling.

Dutch ..... Gebruikt voor bewaarplaatsen, vaak met architectonisch karakter, die zijn geplaatst in, op of dichtbij het hoge altaar in het sanctuarium van een kerk, als houder voor de ingezegende hostie. 
German ..... Behältnis, das im religiösen Zusammenhang verwendet wird, das wörtlich oder symbolisch als wesentlicher Sitz der Gottheit angesehen wird. Im christlichen Kontext hat der Tabernakel häufig einen architektonischen Charakter und befindet sich in der Nähe des Hochaltars einer Kirche, in die Wand eingesetzt oder freistehend; sein Zweck ist, die geweihte Hostie zu enthalten. Der Begriff ist aus dem Lateinischen abgeleitet und bedeutet eine kleine Wohnung.
