Note: A shell marble from Sussex, England that is predominantly gray with occasional green or blue tinges. Its old local name, 'winklestone,' refers to the abundance of small snail shells (winkles) embedded in the marble. Used to ornament churches in the Middle Ages, it remained popular for centuries.

| Dutch ..... Een schelpmarmer uit het Engelse Sussex. De hoofdkleur is grijs met enkele groene of blauwe plekjes. De oude plaatselijke naam 'winklestone' verwijst naar de grote hoeveelheid kleine slakkenhuizen (‘winkles’) in het marmer. Het werd in de middeleeuwen gebruikt om kerken te verfraaien en bleef nog eeuwenlang populair. |
| Spanish ..... Mármol de concha de Sussex, Inglaterra, predominantemente gris con tintes ocasionales verdes o azules. Su nombre antiguo, "winklestone," se refiere a la abundancia de pequeñas conchas de caracol (winkles) incrustadas en el mármol. Utilizado para ornamentos de iglesias en la Edad Media, siguió siendo popular durante siglos.
