Note: A genre of art-making practice involved with electronic media such as video, robotics, computer coding, and digital media in general. The term new media has been in use since the 1960s when it was applied to any non-traditional medium, initially video, which then was newly available to artists. With the rapid expansion of digital technologies, the term has come to refer to art that is by its nature electronic or digital and not merely made with with recent technological techniques.
