Note: Devices, traditionally made of iron, having two palettes designed so that batter may be placed between them for baking. Historically, the devices had two long, lever-like handles for placing the iron in a fire or in an oven. Modern baking irons may operate as separate electrical appliances. The palettes are often stamped or molded with a pattern or design that is transferred to the baked item. |

Dutch ..... Instrumenten, traditioneel van ijzer gemaakt, met twee platen die zo zijn ontworpen dat er deeg tussenin kan worden aangebracht om te worden gebakken. De instrumenten hadden van oudsher lange, hefboomachtige handvatten waarmee het ijzer in een vuur of oven kon worden gelegd. Moderne bakijzers werken soms ook als afzonderlijke elektrische apparaten. In de platen is vaak een patroon of vorm aangebracht die ook op het gebakken product te zien is. |
