Note: Literally "hanging objects", these containers were used in conjunction with "netsuke" to suspend personal items such as tobacco, pipes, brushes and money from the waist sashes, or "obi", of Japanese men. The most common sagemono were boxes made of lacquer, called "inrō".

Additional Notes:
Chinese (traditional) ..... 此辭彙字面上的意義為「懸掛的物件」,日本男性多將這類容器與繩端墜子(netsuke)一同使用,附著於腰帶,或「寬腰帶」(obi)上以懸吊菸草、菸斗、畫筆跟錢財等物品。最常見的提物形式是「印籠」(inrō),一種漆器製成的小盒子。 
Dutch ..... Letterlijk ���hangende objecten'. Houder die Japanse mannen samen met een ���netsuke' gebruikten om persoonlijke objecten ��� zoals tabak, pijpen, borstels en geld ��� aan de gordel om het middel, ���obi' genoemd, te hangen. De meest gangbare sagemono waren doosjes gemaakt van lakwerk die men ���inrō' noemde.
