Note: African American male maskers, usually of the working class, who sing, dance and parade in unofficial associations or "tribes" in New Orleans's Mardi Gras and St. Joseph's Day parades. Their costumes are comprised of large feather headdresses, moccasin-style boots, and aprons with patterns sewn in such materials as sequins, rhinestones, glass beads, ribbons velvet, and ostrich plumes.

Dutch ..... Gemaskerde mannelijke Afro-Amerikanen, meestal uit het arbeidersmilieu, die zingen, dansen en optochten houden en zich organiseren in officieuze groepen of 'stammen' voor de Mardi Gras-parade en St. Joseph's Day-parade in New Orleans. De kostuums bestaan uit hoofdtooien met grote veren, schoenen in moccasinstijl en schorten met opgenaaide patronen, waarbij materiaal wordt gebruikt als lovertjes, kunstdiamant, glaskralen, fluwelen linten en struisvogelpluimen. 
Spanish ..... Máscaras masculinas afroamericanas, usualmente de la clase obrera, que cantan, bailan y desfilan en asociaciones extraoficiales o "tribus" en el Mardi Gras de Nueva Orleans y el desfile del Día de San José. Sus disfraces consisten de grandes tocados de plumas, botas tipo mocasín y delantales con diseños cosidos en materiales tales como lentejuelas, imitaciones de diamantes, cuentas de vidrio, cintas de terciopelo y plumas de avestruz.
