Note: A name given to a type of glass developed in 1864 by William Leighton as a substitute for lead glass in making inexpensive bottles. Calcined limestone, or lime, is used to produce a glass whose advantages are that it is inexpensive, lightweight, cools quickly, and is less resonant. |

Spanish ..... Nombre asignado a un tipo de vidrio desarrollado en 1864 por William Leighton como sustituto del vidrio con plomo para fabricar botellas de bajo precio. Se utiliza caliza calcinada o cal para producir un vidrio cuyas ventajas son su bajo precio, menor peso, rápido enfriamiento y menor resonancia.
