|
Note: Tall and slender vessels with an elongated neck and a flaring mouth, usually in the form of an amphora with two handles, but sometimes in the form of a hydria with three handles. It was often given as gifts at weddings since it held water used for a bride's ritual bath before her wedding. The term is Greek for "bath bringer." Since many girls died before getting married, the loutrophoros symbolized the wedding that she missed and so was often used as a grave marker. The form was common in black-figure pottery of the late 6th century BCE.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 高而細長的器皿，具有瘦長的瓶頸及喇叭形瓶嘴，通常為附有雙把手的雙耳瓶，有些則是有三個把手的三柄水瓶。此詞彙在希臘文中的原意為「沐浴水瓶」，係用來盛水供新娘在婚禮前的沐浴儀式中洗浴之用，故多半作為結婚禮品。由於當時有許多女孩子還未結婚就去世，因此這種水瓶也象徵著無緣進行的婚禮，而常置於墓前當做標記。西元前六世紀晚期的黑彩陶器中常見此類器皿。 |
| Dutch ..... Hoge, slanke vaten met een lange hals en een wijd uitlopende opening, meestal in de vorm van een amfoor met twee handvatten, maar soms in de vorm van een hydria met drie handvatten. Deze vaten werden vaak als geschenk gegeven bij een huwelijk, omdat het water in deze vaten diende voor het rituele bad van de bruid voorafgaand aan de huwelijksvoltrekking. De term is het Griekse woord voor 'brenger van het bad'. Omdat het vaak voorkwam dat meisjes overleden voordat ze konden trouwen, symboliseerde de loutrophoros het gemiste huwelijk en werd deze doorgaans op een graf geplaatst. De vorm komt veel voor bij zwartfigurig aardewerk uit de tweede helft van de 6de eeuw v. Chr. |

Hohes und schlankes Gefäß mit einem verlängerten Hals und einer auskragenden Mündung, gewöhnlich in Form einer Amphore mit zwei Henkeln, manchmal aber auch in der Form einer Hydria mit drei Henkeln. Sie wurde meist als Hochzeitsgabe verschenkt, weil sie seit alters her Wasser enthielt, das für das rituelle Bad der Braut vor der Hochzeit bestimmt war. Im Griechischen bedeutet ihr Name "Bad-Zuführer". Da viele Mädchen starben, noch bevor sie verheiratet wurden, symbolisierte die Loutrophore die Hochzeit, welche sie nicht hatte, und wurde daher oft als Grabstein genutzt. Die Form war üblich in der schwarzfigurigen Töpferei des späten 6. Jahrhundert vor Christus. |

Vasijas altas y delgadas con un cuello alargado y una boca ensanchada, generalmente en forma de un ánfora con dos asas, pero algunas veces en forma de una hidra con tres asas; a menudo ofrecidas como regalo de bodas.
