Note: Gauntlets with a long cuff encircling the forearm up to the elbow where the edge often was cut at an angle to form a point. They were characteristic of foot soldiers' armor in the 16th century, and common for light cavalry from the 15th to the 17th century when they were worn on the left or bridle arm only. |

Dutch ..... Pantserhandschoenen met een lange manchet die de onderarm omsluit tot aan de elleboog, waar de rand vaak schuin is afgesneden om een punt te vormen. Ze waren kenmerkend voor de wapenrusting van infanteristen in de 16e eeuw en gebruikelijk voor de lichte cavalerie van de 15e tot de 17e eeuw, waar ze alleen aan de linker- of teugelarm werden gedragen. |
Spanish ..... Guantelete con un puño largo circundando el antebrazo hasta el codo, donde el borde estaba frecuentemente cortado en un ángulo para formar una punta. Fueron característicos de las armaduras de los soldados de a pie en el siglo XVI, y comunes en la caballería ligera desde el siglo XV hasta el siglo XVII, cuando se llevaba sobre el brazo izquierdo o la brida únicamente. |
