Note: An international telegraphy system consisting of a network of teleprinters connected by telecommunication lines. Subscribers to a telex service may exchange text and data directly and securely with one another. When a message is sent, it may either be printed immediately or stored for subsequent printing or display on a monitor. Frequently capitalized, 'telex' in ordinary usage is not a proprietary term. 'Telex' is a registered trademark in the United States, but in in most other countries telex systems were operated by government agencies. The names of some specific products (radio equipment, hearing aids, etc.) of the Telex Corporation are registered as trade marks.

| Dutch ..... Een internationaal telegrafiesysteem dat bestaat uit een netwerk van teleprinters die worden verbonden door telecommunicatielijnen. Abonnees van een telexdienst kunnen direct en veilig tekst en gegevens met elkaar uitwisselen. Wanneer er een bericht wordt verzonden, kan dit direct worden afgedrukt of voor later worden opgeslagen, waarna het kan worden afgedrukt of op een beeldscherm kan worden weergegeven. De term 'telex' wordt vaak met een hoofdletter geschreven maar is in het gewone gebruik geen eigennaam. 'Telex' is een geregistreerd handelsmerk in de Verenigde Staten, maar in de meeste andere landen werden telexsystemen door overheidsinstanties beheerd. De namen van sommige specifieke producten (radioapparatuur, gehoorapparaten, etc.) van de Telex Corporation zijn als handelsmerk geregistreerd. |
