Note: Houses containing a large central space as the principal ground floor or upper floor living area; normally restricted to Great Britain where in early examples the halls were usually open to the roof, and in later examples the halls, similar in position and function, had ceilings. For the main residential buildings of farms or large estates, prefer "farmhouses" or "manor houses" when emphasizing the buildings' function.

Additional Notes:
Chinese (traditional) ..... 中央留有大片空間以作為一樓主要樓面或作為上方樓層之生活區域的住宅,一般僅指建於英國地區者;早期此類建築之大廳通常挑高至屋頂,而較晚期所建者,大廳仍具相似位置與功能,但具有天花板。若是農場或大莊園中供居住之用的主要建築物,則較傾向稱為「農舍」或「莊園宅邸」,以強調其功能。 
Dutch ..... Gebruik voor huizen met een grote centrale ruimte als de belangrijkste beneden- of eerste verdieping met het woongedeelte; normaal gesproken beperkt tot Groot-Brittannië waar de hallen in de vroege voorbeelden meestal een open dak hadden, en waarin latere types de zalen, vergelijkbaar in positie en functie, plafonds kregen. Voor de belangrijkste residentiële gebouwen van landbouwbedrijven of grote landgoederen geef dan de voorkeur aan, "boerenhoeven" of "versterkte huizen" bij het benadrukken van de functie van de gebouwen. 
Spanish ..... Casa que contiene un gran espacio central como planta baja principal o piso superior de vivienda. Normalmente, su uso se restringue a Gran Bretaña, donde los primero ejemplos se encontraban generalmente abiertos por la parte del tejado, mientras que los posteriores, aunque similares en posición y función, tenían techos. Para el edificio residencia principal de las granjas o grandes haciendas, prefiera "casa de labranza" o "casa solariega”, cuando se enfatiza la función del edificio.
