Note: Refers to the penultimate stage in the formal process that leads to the canonization of a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. At this stage, the pope grants the title 'Blessed' to a Roman Catholic of exemplary faith and life who is considered worthy of public veneration after his or her death. After this stage, such a person can be locally honored. If there is evidence of two miracles then the canonization can proceed, leading to the person becoming a universally recognized saint.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de voorlaatste fase van de formele procedure die leidt tot heiligverklaring in de rooms-katholieke kerk. In deze fase verleent de paus de titel 'zalige' aan een rooms-katholiek met een voorbeeldig geloof en leven, die het ook na zijn of haar dood waard is om publiekelijk te worden vereerd. Na afloop van deze fase kan deze persoon plaatselijk worden geëerd. Als twee of meerdere wonderen kunnen worden bewezen, mag de canonisatieprocedure worden voortgezet, waarna deze persoon algemeen wordt erkend als heilige. |
