Note: Refers to the period and culture from about 6200 to 5500 BCE that developed in central Mesopotamia and spread north, named after the site of Samarra. Know primarily for its painted pottery, some of which was decorated with human and animal motifs, clay figurines, and the earliest known Mesopotamian use of mud-brick.

Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de periode en beschaving die zich van circa 6200 tot 5500 v. Chr. ontwikkelde in centraal Mesopotamië en zich uitbreidde naar het noorden, en die is genoemd naar de archeologische vindplaats te Samarra. Vooral bekend om zijn beschilderde aardewerk, soms gedecoreerd met menselijke en dierlijke vormen, lemen beeldjes, en het vroegst bekende gebruik van leemsteen in Mesopotamië. 
Spanish ..... Se refiere al período y cultura de aproximadamente 6200 al 5500 a.C., que se desarrolló en Mesopotamia central y se extendió hacia el norte, que lleva el nombre del sitio de Samarra. Conocido principalmente por su cerámica pintada, algunas de las cuales se decoró con motivos humanos y animales, estatuillas de arcilla y el primer uso Mesopotamio conocido de ladrillos de barro.
