Note: Refers to the concept that a work of art must be experienced in its context or setting and that this knowledge of the work of art leads to a richer appreciation and understanding of it. Contextualism holds that not only literature, which is ordinarily appreciated contextually, but also the other arts, including nonrepresentational music and painting, should be experienced in this way. The opposite viewpoint of contextualism is isolationism.

Verwijst naar het concept dat een kunstwerk moet worden ervaren met inbegrip van de bijbehorende context of achtergrond en dat deze kennis leidt tot een diepere waardering en een beter begrip van het kunstwerk. Contextualiteit houdt in dat niet alleen literatuur, die gewoonlijk in context wordt gewaardeerd, maar ook de andere kunsten, waaronder abstracte muziek en schilderkunst, op deze manier moeten worden ervaren. Het tegengestelde concept van contextualiteit is isolationisme. |

Se refiere al concepto que una obra de arte debe ser experimentada en su contexto o escenario y que este conocimiento de la obra de arte lleva a una apreciación y entendimiento más rico de ella. El Contextualismo mantiene que no sólo la literatura, que es normalmente apreciada contextualmente, pero también las otras artes, incluyendo música no figurativa y pintura, debe ser experimentado de esta manera.
El punto opuesto del contextualismo es el aislacionismo. |
