Note: Communities of modest size, built mostly since the Industrial Revolution, in which the primary employment is in factories. When the primary employment is in factories for the manufacture of paper, steel, or textiles, use "mill towns." When settlements are purposely built by factory owners to attract workers to isolated locations, use "factory villages."

| Dutch ..... Aanduiding voor nederzettingen, voornamelijk gebouwd sinds de Industriële Revolutie, waarin de werkgelegenheid hoofdzakelijk in fabrieken is. Gebruik 'fabriekssteden' wanneer de werkgelegenheid voornamelijk in fabrieken voor de vervaardiging van papier, staal of textiel te vinden is. Gebruik 'fabrieksdorpen' wanneer nederzettingen doelbewust zijn gebouwd door fabriekseigenaren om arbeiders naar geïsoleerd gelegen plaatsen te trekken. |
