Note: A fine grained, magnesium-rich white marble from Cockeysville, Maryland; it has a few pale streaks or bands which give an effect of pale gray. One of the most popular types of marble used in nineteenth-century buildings in Washington, D.C., it comprised the top two thirds of the Washington Monument as well as the monolithic columns of the Capitol building extensions.

Dutch ..... Een fijnkorrelig, magnesiumrijk, wit marmer uit Cockeysville, Maryland. Het bevat spaarzame bleke strepen of stroken die een vaalgrijs effect creëren. Het is een van de meest populaire marmersoorten die in de 19de eeuw werden gebruikt in gebouwen in Washington D.C., onder andere in het bovenste tweederde deel van het Washington Monument, en in de monolithische zuilen van de aangebouwde delen van het Capitool. 
Spanish ..... Mármol blanco rico en magnesio de grano fino proveniente de Cockeysville, Maryland; tiene rayas o bandas escasas y pálidas que dan la impresión de un gris pálido. Es uno de los tipos más populares de mármol utilizado en los edificiones de Washington, d.C., en el siglo XIX, incluido los dos tercios superiores del Monumento a Washington, así como las columnas monolíticas de las extensiones del edificio del Capitolio.
