Note: In archaeology, geology, and related disciplines, sites having features or characteristics that are used to define, or are paradigmatic of, a culture, stratigraphic level, or other pertinent feature or characteristic. The type site is often the eponym for the culture or feature, that is, the site after which the culture or feature is named.
